Irish Association of Directors of Nursing and Midwifery is an association of directors
of nursing & midwifery throughout healthcare and was founded in 1904 as the
Irish Matron's Association.Objectives - To provide support
and Leadership to Directors of Nursing and Midwifery within the changing environment
of health care.
- To study all Nursing and Midwifery education programmes
and advise An Bord Altranais, Department of Health and Children, National Council
for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery and related bodies.
- To ensure continuous dialogue with teaching colleagues.
- To
encourage and support nursing colleagues in upholding Christian Ethical values
and the formation of Ethical Committees.
- To promote effective
Nursing/Multidisciplinary liaison in the best interest of patient care.
- To
ensure effective participation in the planning of any new legislation relevant
to the health services generally and nursing and midwifery in particular.
- To
influence the direction of the Nursing and Midwifery profession within the context
of health care services and encourage research into Nursing and Midwifery practice.
